Fun with Graphing!

We had a great time this week working with graphs. Manipulatives can be fun and edible too! We used marshmellows, ice cream, and reeses pieces to make graphs- not all at one time. I didn't want stomach aches. :) Our live circle graph showed that the most popular ice cream flavor was vanilla. As it turned out, the children thought the graph looked like a peace sign when we drew the lines for it. :) They told me thats what they learned about circle graphs! Let's hope it was more than that. :)

Gracie Ready for the Game!

Yesterday brought opening day for the Deacons! I was so excited. I had my flag on the car, my football pumped and ready for throwing and of course I was wearing one of my t-shirts. Despite the loss, the score was not so bad. I was upset at the turnovers made by Wake, I'm sure Grobe will speak to those turnovers. I'll be watching next week at 12:00. Go Deacs!

Today brings school work. Updating the webpage and planning for next week. I will also be working on finalizing our daily schedule. :)

Welcome Back to School!

Open house was a busy and fun night. I was happy to meet 19 new faces. I found some animal lovers and WFU fans among my new students! Its going to be a great year! Can't wait to see you all on Tuesday morning.

We started working on our seven continents project. We divided the class into seven groups and worked cooperatively to artistcially place the continent name on each poster. The groups will be researching four main areas about their continents-climate, culture, animals and fun facts. The groups will then be responsible for sharing and teaching their classmates and teachers about their continent. This is part of our study of Maps and Globes. We are looking forward to really getting starting with this project.
